Half Day Dendera Excursion 

Luxreisen will pick you up from your accommodation early in the morning, around 06:00. Then we embark on the 220 km long road to Dendera. Please note that the route is different from Marsa Alam.

Arriving in Dendera we will visit the Temple of Hathor, who was identified with the famous Aphrodite in Ptolemaic and Greek times and with Venus in Roman times.

One of the highlights of your Dendera excursion is the visit to the mysterious underground Crypts of Dendera. These hidden chambers contain unique religious reliefs and inscriptions that can only be found in a few ancient Egyptian temples.

You will also climb to the rooftop of Dendera Temple, where you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view over the entire temple complex and the surrounding landscape. The rooftop is one of the most fascinating and photogenic parts of the temple.

During your visit, you will discover the world-famous Dendera Zodiac, one of the most important astronomical representations from ancient Egypt. Your guide will explain its connection to ancient Egyptian astronomy, religious beliefs, and the measurement of time.

In addition, you will visit the Sacred Lake, the Mammisi (Birth House of Hathor), and admire the remarkably well-preserved colors and reliefs that make the Temple of Hathor one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt.

When we get to the temple we will visit together the sanatorium, the holy lake, the mamisi and a picture of Cleopatra. This illustration is the only one that has survived. Your Luxreisen travel guide will also show you enigmatic images inside the temple, in the crypt. In addition, we will be able to admire wonderful astronomical representations on the ceiling of the temple.

 After an educational, unforgettable and very emotional excursion to Dendera, we will leave this magical place around 11:00 am and make our way back to your accommodation, where we will arrive around 1:00 pm.
